[edit] Merging McDonald's and McHappy Day

I've proposed merging McDonald's and McHappy Day. The article for McHappy Day is small enough to fit in this article. I believe that the article can just be a section. Also, there is no need of an article that small if there is a page that it can merged to. JC Talk to me My contributions 02:48, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Company origins

The claim that "the company began in 1940 as a barbecue restaurant" strikes me as inaccurate - the 'company' (that is, McDonald's Corporation) was not founded until 1955, hence the company did not 'begin' until this time. Before then it was just a small business. Also, does anybody have a citation for the claim that McDonald's began as a 'barbecue restaurant'?

For the sake of accuracy the second sentence should therefore revert to "Headquartered in the United States, the corporation was founded by businessman Ray Kroc in 1955 after he purchased the rights to a small hamburger chain operated by the eponymous Richard and Maurice McDonald."

Thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amnesiac86 (talkcontribs) 06:31, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

It depends on how you define it. The corporation began in 1955, and the official website mentions the McDonald brothers, of course, but does not go into detail about their own operation. Their own history strikes me as "background". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 11:12, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

[edit] McDonald's Stops Courting Computer Users in Central Maine

Last year, in the race to cash in on computer users, MacDonald joined coffee frontrunner Starbucks to offer free wifi to its customers. But apparently under pressure to cut back on electricity costs, MacDonald franchises in Central Maine have sealed up or deactivated their electrical outlets in their eateries. In Freeport Maine, they have simply covered up electrical outlets with metal covers, while on Center Street in Auburn, ME, they have left two outlets uncovered, but inactive. Times were when it was convenient to slip into McDonald's, buy some coffee and fries or a Southwestern salad and power up your computer to check the email. That convenience is now a faint memory. “It's a big shame that the sagging economy has forced such a public-friendly franchise to eliminate such a useful service,” grumbled Frank Scott from Orono, who had come into the Freeport McDonald's to wait while his wife and three children checked out the winter goods in LL Bean. “It's all a charade,” chimed in Doug Chandler form Wiscasett, ME, also waiting for his daughter and son-in-law. “Why claim to offer free wifi and then shut off the means of getting to it? They've become terrible teasers, these people. I'm going to Starbucks,” and he stormed out.

OK. What does that have to do with the article? Suggesting an edit? Warren (talk) 01:33, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
This is very harmful to the growth of McDonald's and you might be in some "trouble" for offending McDonald's on their WikiPage... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farfaraway269269 (talkcontribs) 22:28, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Still got it in Eastern Maine though(Calais, Machias, etc.). Poor suckers. Mr.AK-74 (talk) 01:34, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit] McWorld

It is a social organization for kids and provided by McDonald's- accessible from the Happy Meal site. Anyway, it should be included! Also, can the creator of this resourceful article please add a link to the McWorld page; I can't access it as it is encrypted!!!!! Farfaraway269269 (talk) 22:16, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
