Origins[edit]

This page originally comes from the messy, interesting but unreferenced Crime in Melbourne page that existed around september 2005, as well as it's angsty talk page. Agnte 19:34, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

False Information[edit]

I am removing the allegation that Nik Radev's killer was the infamous Chopper Read. No news article on the internet supports this; on the contrary, no killer has actually been identified, although a few possibles were named (see Nik Radev).

Player Bio Stubs[edit]

Although not strictly part of this article, we need to have at the very least some basic stub articles (and a picture would be nice) for some of the main characters involved in the timeline, specifically : Carl Williams Andrew Veniamin Dino Dibra Mark Moran Jason Moran Lewis Moran Graham Kinniburgh Alphonse Gangitano Domenic Gatto Victor Peirce Nik Radev. reference overload.[edit]

I think there are a few too many references in their now, and enough of them overlap. I'm chucking some out and pasting them here. Agnte 00:32, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reference order[edit]

I've added a mention of last night's murder of Mario Condello, but the references in the article need an overhaul so that the numbers in the endnotes match those of the in-text refs. Anyone volunteer? - Gobeirne 02:12, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll do it. Agnte 06:19, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

35 killings[edit]

The Purana Taskforce and the news media have counted 35 killings, so I'm bumping up the count from 28 to 35. Plus I added Lee Torney. - Richardcavell 01:20, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think The Age may have it wrong. A month ago, on February 7, 2006, they were reporting the body count as being 28 deaths [1]. One month later, on March 3, 2006, the count at The Age is now 35 [2]. The Herald Sun is currently reporting 29 also [3]. I've edited the article back to 29 victims. -- Longhair 03:06, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Faurearrest.jpg[edit]

Image:Faurearrest.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Supreme Court[edit]

After watching the television series Underbelly tonight, I noticed a mention at the end of the episode saying that the Supreme Court ruled that two of the characters portrayed must not have their names shown. However family members and I checked Wikipedia to see if there was actually information about it; but to our suprise the names of the suspects are easily located on the page from links provided by the Supreme Court itself. Quite strange HarrisonB - Talk 13:09, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How many?[edit]

I think we should come to some agreement about which murders are officially in this category. I've heard numbers from 30 to 46 being spoken by the Melbourne media. Or, if we cannot agree, we ought to make that explicit. Who's with me? - Richard Cavell (talk) 09:01, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Des Moran[edit]

Have there been any commentators linking the killing of Des Moran to the other killings in his family? Judy Moran has been found guilty and her accomplices pleaded guilty to the murder so there are sources available for the details. Ansell 00:15, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Writing Style[edit]

The style, at least at the time of this edit, seems to be a little conspiratorial as if it is an honour to be in the know. Objectivity is the point of this Encylopaedia. Phrases like "The majority of underworld crime figures and major incidents can be traced back to..." is almost as if the author thinks they have a definitive answer to this "grouping" of murders. What is suggested in T.V. dramas supposedly based on these events cannot be seen as conclusive either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.152.159.80 (talk) 08:19, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
