[edit] First gay kiss on television?

Is it true that the pilot episode of this show contained the first man-on-man kiss on [American?] television? They say so in the DVD commentary for the pilot episode, but I am wondering if there are any other sources to verify this claim. -220.245.253.81 (talk) 06:41, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

From what I can find, Dawson's Creek holds the distinction for having the first man-on-man kiss on American television with the episode "True Love" which aired May 24, 2000 but the airdate of Mission Hill's pilot episode is September of 1999 which does predate Dawson's Creek. I can find no source giving Mission Hill the credit probably because in The Simpsons episode "Simpson and Delilah", airdate October 18, 1990, Homer is kissed by his assistant (voiced by Harvey Fierstein) more than likely making this the first man-on-man kiss on TV. Picket Fences predated Dawson's, but not the Simpsons, in 92 on Season 1 it showed (on two dif episodes) both a male and a female homosexual kiss. I guess the internet did not exist on quite the boom level for when M.H. aired, but yeah the commentary said they did it first, but clearly they did not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.91.6.57 (talk) 14:28, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
