I am damn near positive that this is not the only school whose orchestra played Carnegie. I remember my high school (Deerfield High School, Deerfield, IL) going to Carnegie and playing there, and I'm pretty sure that our sister school (Highland Park High School) went and played on the same trip. I wasn't in the orchestra, but I had friends who were, and I distinctly remember the trip. I'll try and get some evidence for my claim before I remove the relevant line in this article. Found some evidence:

Sympony Orchestra:

"Description: all sophomore, junior and senior string instrument players enroll in Symphony Orchestra. Permission of orchestra director must be obtained to enroll in this class. Students perform in public concerts, recitals, assemblies and contests. Orchestra members may also participate in Chamber Ensembles, Musical Pit Orchestra, perform solos with an orchestra accompaniment and take occasional trips, such as playing at Carnegie Hall. Please see your Program of Studies for further information on these groups!" Posiduck 06:34, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

While you are correct that Moanalua High School is not the first student orchestra to perform at Carnegie Hall, the State of Hawaii [1] and the Carnegie Hall Corporation states that Moanalua High School is indeed the first to be officially invited by the governing Carnegie Hall Corporation to play at the prestigious concert hall on the basis of talent alone. Other schools who have played at Carnegie Hall played as part of larger educational programs as vendors that happened to have rented Carnegie Hall and named Carnegie Hall as sponsor on that basis alone. --Gerald Farinas 16:39, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Damon on the Committee of Safety?[edit]

The article states that Damon was "actively involved", but that article doesn't list him as a member. Was he actively involved but not a member?

School students image[edit]

Image:Moanaluastudents.jpg is used in many articles about schools, it would be best to find a replacement before it is deleted for lack of source and copyright. If we all look together we should find one in no time. Please post your responses at Image talk:Moanaluastudents.jpg. Thanks! Foofy 21:09, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Citation of sources[edit]

This article does not cite any sources for the claims that it makes regarding the school. Some of these claims really do need citations, such as the claim to the first invitation to Carnegie Hall, etc. I wanted to make the editors of this page aware of my objections to its content before placed a {{Unreferenced}} tag. — Scm83x hook 'em 01:18, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Maybe start by labelling individual claims that need verification with {{citeneeded}}, and if nothing happens within a reasonable period of time, delete the claims. Scm83x, do you have thoughts on whether the article is still of Portal:Schools showcase standard? It's a very good article apart from this lack of references for some claims. I wonder if some of the stuff is mentioned on the school's website somewhere. Harro5 00:25, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think it still needs fleshing out by someone familiar with the topic. If those claims aren't cited soon, they should be {{citeneeded}}'ed and then much later commented out until they are cited. Claims such as:
  • "Moanalua High School also has the distinction of graduating the most valedictorians each year, in comparison to the other schools of the Hawaii State Department of Education. As many as one dozen of students graduate with the honor in a single class, arguably indicative of the strength of the school's academic programs."
These comments and many others needed citations. — Scm83x hook 'em 00:37, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni list[edit]

I've again removed the uncited content from the "notable alumni" section. None of it was referenced, and must be referenced per Wikipedias' inclusions tandards and WP:BLP. The list is also trivia, with no clear standard of inclusion and no meaningful value to the content of the article. -- Mikeblas (talk) 18:01, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
