Untitled[edit]

I have corrected the myths about Modocs birth and life span, since they are not true, which is known by most circus historians and many elephant people. All records can be doublecked, and I also have them on the elephant database www.elephant.se, as

  1. http://www.elephant.se/database2.php?elephant_id=2382
  2. http://www.elephant.se/database2.php?elephant_id=2383
  3. http://www.elephant.se/database2.php?elephant_id=2006

I know this makes a lot of peple sad to hear, but its a fact, Helfer wrote a beautiful book, but it was untrue.

added "But this is not true, he met the one and only Modoc the elephant born in Germany in 1900 to Mr. Joseph and Katrina Guntertine. Those who do not believe that these events happened are no believers of one of the greatest animal tales of all time and should not criticize some ones life!"

which I removed. I have given several sources, and can also add the book "Elefanten in circus und Zoos" by european elephant group (I personally contributed to that one...) 1 ISBN:3930962187 and theres is not a single known elephant born in europe before 1902 in England. There may have been, however, in roman times, but those elephants are as far as I know, not recorded. Ralph Helfer is still living, before he can name a source for this elephant, it has to be regarded as fiction.

sorry, but this is the facts. Its still a nice book!

Helfer's title says that the book is true. Heading of Wikipedia article says that book is a novel. A novel, by definition, is fictional. If the book is true, it's not a novel and the heading should be changed. Can this be cleared up definitively? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lynwood51 (talkcontribs) 16:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ralph Helfer[edit]

  • I have started an article about Ralph Helfer, so if anyone can help improve it, this would be most welcome. Hektor (talk) 07:21, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
