Important?[edit]

"It catalyzes the oxidative deamination of biogenic and xenobiotic amines and plays an important role in the metabolism of neuroactive and vasoactive amines in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues."

The important seems fairly dubious given this is an isoenzyme for MAO-A. I've added a citation needed tag at the moment, but I'm for removing the important claim if no one can find citations of deficiency being detrimental. 3AlarmLampscooter (talk) 08:05, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v265/n5589/abs/265080a0.html might work. Personally, I don't really care for that text either way. MAO-B is a nuisance enzyme IMO.
