Endonasal mucociliary clearance ?[edit]

Doesn't mucociliary clearance take place in the nose as well as the bronchi? Or at least a related phenomenon that should be cross-referenced here? Thomas.Hedden (talk) 13:21, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Measurement[edit]

I came to this page trying to understand what the numbers meant in the sentence: "The dexpanthenol group resulted in a better mucociliary clearance than saline irrigation (9.93 +/- 6.04 vs. 12.38 +/- 9.32 min, p = 0.43)." The article as it currently is written has not clarified what the measurement units are likely to be, or what might be normal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.16.75.197 (talk) 12:58, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Found a reference that helped: [1]. Minutes/cm is the units and it's measured by the movement of a particle of saccharine. Entertainingly: "In the respiratory system, humming at a low tone, “oooommmm,” can benefit by affecting the mucus and speeding the cilia." I hope this helps the next editor. Proposed merge with Mucus[edit]

Propose merge to Mucus as already mostly covered there and cannot be expanded on much here Iztwoz (talk) 06:50, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose I feel the concept of mucociliary clearance is independently notable and worth of its own article, even if it's not too long and covered in the mucous page. --Tom (LT) (talk) 05:31, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tend to agree now - so would like to withdraw merge proposal.--Iztwoz (talk) 08:01, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
