Band Screenshot[edit]

Should the screenshot of the band be replaced? J Mann has returned to the band, but he does not appear in the current screenshot present in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.109.210.92 (talk) 18:46, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I am changing the genre classification from agressive rock to agressive rock/nu-metal as they have at times claimed to be nu-metal and mix hiphop with metal which is trademark nu-metal.

I'm going to change the genre classification to have alternative metal in the top, as their newest albums—XX, XII and Savior Sorrow—are all classified as being such and therefore describes them best.

Should electronic be added to the genres? Portillo (talk) 00:17, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No reason not to add nu metal to the genre list since they helped create the genre. It doesn't mean that they are purely nu metal, and no reason to remove other genres from the list. It is a list, after all, of genres that they might be considered to have played at once point. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fleaman5000 (talkcontribs) 15:41, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have just added a small some bits onto the genre part, noting that the doom metal side of mushroomhead has come through recently and that they were more nu metal earlier on, as they were for at least mushroomhead and superbuick. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StarInvasion (talkcontribs) 12:38, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Members[edit]

I have the band members in alphabetical order. Personally, I feel this is more logical than the previous, random ordering.

sempiternal 11:34, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone keeps adding themselves, drum tech Little Dan, and other members that are not in Mushroomhead to the members list.

Drum Tech Little Dan should be added to the list of members. He does play the water drums for them.

VinTheMetalhed 20:46, 20 March 2007 (UTC)VinTheMetalhed Little Dan does not count, He is not listed ANYWHERE on their official site or myspace.[reply]

Little Dan does not count, He is not listed ANYWHERE on their official site or myspace.

6/16/07 Why is "Joe Kilcoyne" listed as "Mr Mooooooo"? He's always been credited as "Mr Murdernickel" on the self titled debut and on the Universal Records release of XX.

Lil' Dan, as he is now an official member of the band, should be added to the timeline, perhaps under "custom percussion"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.101.124.110 (talk) 06:05, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

12/10/10 I think Lil' Dan should be listed as "secondary percussion for live shows" or something to that effect. He's often playing almost half of the set on some nights. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.37.10.97 (talk) 02:25, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

J Vocals is not a former member, nobody has heard of him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.101.124.110 (talk) 23:35, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone see where J-Mann has actually returned? I see no source online or on their webpage. Guest vocals =/= a return to the band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.114.68.162 (talk) 05:12, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unique circumstances regarding Waylon's departure from the band. "Waylon Reavis has left Mushroomhead over "irreconcilable differences."

The vocalist released a statement to his Facebook fan page where he says his 11-year stint with the band has come to an end, along with his relationship with label Filthy Hands Company. It follows a video in which he said, "I'm not in Mushroomhead, it's fucking true. I'm out. I told you change was coming."

The latest statement reads: "Due to irreconcilable differences with band ownership, effective today vocalist Waylon Reavis has severed all ties with Mushroomhead and Filthy Hands Company.

"Waylon is thankful for the opportunity Mushroomhead has provided him the last 11 years and will now be concentrating his time and efforts on another project. Thank you to the fans for all your continued loyalty and support throughout the years."

Mushroomhead are yet to comment on Reavis' departure and this week added more dates to their current North American tour." [1]

Biography[edit]

Just for the record, I wrote the biography. I spent a lot of time on it and it met the approval of Thirteam, the band's online street team. As such, I kindly ask that it stays as close to the original as possible.

Thank you.

  • Not bad but... a bit too longwinding. Feels a bit too self-promotional. (imho) // Gargaj 17:55, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • EXTREMELY self promotional. I'm changing it for bias reasons.

Guys, they're from Streetsboro, Ohio. Not Cleveland. They even said in an interview I saw a few years back. Sorry I can't find it though. Also, sorry I attempted editing this page without permission...I'd just like this to be cleared up. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.56.1.44 (talk) 01:39, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Songs[edit]

  • Changed the song title "Marijuana User" to "Slow Thing" because thats the proper title.

Costumes[edit]

I reckon someone should write a bit more on the their costumes. Because, that may be the most unique thing about Mushroomhead. Either that or their music. But yeah, they've had a lot of different costumes. They have main ones, like the Old School stuff, the 'XX' ones, there was a few after XX and XIII and now the Savior Sorrow ones (well I'm assuming they're for Savior Sorrow) which can be found on their website.

Maybe people don't judge costumes to be as relevent as I do, I don't know.

Oh and there was also the time they dressed up as Slipknot, and then as US Presidents, and there was probably many more.

If anybody has time, they have once again changed their masks. While watching them on tour i saw that they have replaced their old masks and facepaint with new masks which depict alien-like porcelin dolls. Pictures of these new masks or obscure and not yet published on their website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.71.42.94 (talk) 05:55, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mushroomkombat[edit]

If anyone has time they should make a page on Mushroomkombat, it deserves its own individual page.

12/10/10 Does it really need it's own page? It was just a REALLY simple flash game released for 6/6/2006. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.37.10.97 (talk) 02:17, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

What happened to the Picture? It was a good one for the band. Who took it down? 216.250.13.29 01:31, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We need to insert two more pictures, one of them with J-mann and the traditional X-Face masks, and a current one of them and their new masks.

Influence?[edit]

The article says: which have influenced Korn and/or Slipknot. Uhm... what the heck is that supposed to mean? Korn and Slipknot? Or Korn or Slipknot? In the latter case: does that mean it isn't at all sure if both bands are indeed influenced by Mushroomhead? Or is this just an assumption based on the fact that Mushroomhead have a similar style and started earlier? Sounds to me like we need some sources here, otherwise it looks like this is just somebody's own personal conclusion, not backed up by any hard evidence. You know, in the land of music and bands there's just too much speculation about who influenced who... it really isn't helping anyone. So untill somebody comes up with some solid sources, I'm just gonna replace that statement with something about the styles of those bands being similar, regardless of who influenced who. Greetings RagingR2 22:55, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uniqueness[edit]

There are no text about how unique Mushroomhead are. Keyboards and samples play very important role in their music. So I added a few sentences about it ontop of the page -um dude thats an opinion. Nahh, it's not an opinion. They are one of the few Heavy metal bands to use keyboards that much, while still haveing a guitar.

its called cradle of filth and dimmu borgir. they have keyboards and guitar featured in their music. and yes it is an opinion. i wouldn't call mushroomhead metal either.

Slipknot, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, KoRn etc. use keyboards; want me to continue? -Ottsworth (talk) 17:13, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll second that; there is a whole genre called melodic metal that capitalizes on keyboard use, and you can see it in other nu metal bands (linkin park, rammstein). Though their style is unique and recognizable, I think we need a source before we begin flaunting uniqueness. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DJbhindi (talkcontribs) 19:54, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rammstein is not nu metal at all. Rammstein is just industrial metal, a la Marilyn Manson, Ministry, Rob Zombie. It's a diverse genre but it is not related to nu metal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fleaman5000 (talkcontribs) 15:40, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Side Projects[edit]

Should ther be a seperate page for Mushroomhead side projects, or should we add them to see also.?

Edit: Bias/References/Poor Writing[edit]

The main header of the article is terribly written (the first paragraph of the main section).

I removed two lines entirely, in an effort to clean it up: "The music of Mushroomhead is very progressive and some people use to call it "art metal". The sound is very differerent to many heavy alternative metal bands because there are keyboards and samples in Mushroomhead music." The "art metal" part (which should be led into with "used to," not "use to") is of no relevance, and the point about the band being "differerent" serves no function here (nor is it true, as keyboards and sampling are prevalent throughout metal).

Also removed the comment: "(who many fans and former band members claim are a ripoff of Mushroomhead)." This should be cited to a reference, and if it IS to be used, it should be in the body of the article.

Removed the band "Tool" from the list of bands with similar sounds, as there are few (if any) similarities between the two.

Wow, the opening paragraph is probably the worst thing I have ever read. It reads like a lobotomized mongoloid wrote it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.108.16.159 (talk) 01:39, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Special Edition" of XIII...[edit]

For the record, there is nothing special about copies of XIII sold at best buy stores. There were stickers on the celophane(sp?) which stated that the track Crazy was exclusive to best buy, however this has been proven false, as this track appears on all copies of the album (except the advance version where it was replaced with "Along the Way"). The Special Edition of the album on which the tracks "Treason" & "Loop#6" appear, is simply the British copy of the album(anyone who's into music knows taht cd's released in the UK and Japan oftentimes have one or two bonus tracks, due to the fact that they are more expensive). So there was never a best buy exclusive copy with those two tracks. I have edited the main mushroomhead article, as well as the article for XIII, and corrected this information.65.43.221.230 16:23, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

Can somebody please get the exact statistics on all of MRH's albums. I tried to make an accurate discography table but could only get consistent info on Savior Sorrow, XX, and XIII. Any info on M3, Superbuick or the self-titled, please, put it in the table ASAP.

Shouldn't XX be in the Remix section of the discography table. The only previously unreleased track is Empty Spaces and the rest have been remixed.

I added an NPOV tag to this article today. After I added the tag, I realised the lead is mostly a copyright violation from this page. I see that material from this site has been inserted previously. I have reverted to a version from 21 January which seems to be the start of these additions, and hopefully that has removed the copyvios without removing any good content (as far as I could see, any intermittent edits were small - please undo my revert if this is not the case). Any more of this frantic copyvio/vandalism, which seems to have stemmed mostly from 65.8.171.174 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and it might be best to semi-protect the article for a bit. --Kateshortforbob talk 17:24, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

St1tch Percussion[edit]

Since 2010, ST1TCH has taken on the roll of a second percussionist at concerts. With this in mind, should his bar on the timeline be given the thinner percussion bar inside his electronics bar (sorry I didn't know the terminology you guys use here)? I didn't want to just add it because while the very unscientific method of me watching a bunch of Mushroomhead concerts on Youtube seems to imply he's doing more beating than scratching during this era, on BSfUC he's just credited for his usual electronic setup, and I'd think adding a new color for "Live percussion" would just be clutter. How do you guys want to handle this? Crispy385 (talk) 23:14, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mushroomhead genre[edit]

An IP user (User:108.64.172.207) is consistently reverting changes without edit reasons and is removing the nu metal genre from the infobox even though there are sources in the article itself pointing them to be a nu-metal band. The user has already broken 3RR several times, but since this sort of think usually needs some sort of discussion, I'm starting it here. We either include nu metal in the list of genres, or blank it completely. I'm adding it back for now, since it's mentioned in the article (and so I can direct him to the talk page) SonOfPlisskin (talk) 21:26, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Mushroomhead/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

I think the article could be further expanded with more infos and assessments of their style and achievements. The article is completely uncited and the trivia section should be incorporated in the main prose.--Yannismarou 08:59, 6 January 2007 (UTC) Agreed, i removed heaps of crap and added the cite tags awhile ago, seems no one has done anything about it.
