Dead Mutants and Power Retention[edit]

Just a quick thought, and I may be wrong, but I distinctly remember that after Decimation dead mutants as well as living mutants were stripped of their X-Gene. Now, Selene is resurrecting numerous mutants who have died and they seem to still retain their original mutant abilities. What is going on? Is there something that I missed? Add on to previous post...[edit]

I'm looking for some feedback here. From my understanding, after M-Day, 95 or so percent of mutants lost there X-Gene, including previously deceased mutants. Now in the ongoing Necrosha crossover, Selene and Eli Bard are reviving dead mutants to help their cause. Is it just me or does the resurrection of these dead mutants pose a problem? I had read that even dead mutants X-Genes simply vanished after decimation, yet we have numerous mutants being revived by the transmode virus and they have their mutant powers intact. Unless these dead mutants didn't lose their X-Genes after death like others did after The Decimation there seems to be an issue going on here...Drunknesmonsta (talk) 21:21, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reference for dead mutants also losing their x-gene? I'd never heard one way or the other, but a deceased mutant who retains their x-gene would seem to still fulfill the initiating the claim of 'no more mutants'... Jmcgowan2 (talk) 20:26, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

During Messiah Complex, when beast was running around, searching for a way to reverse the effects of Decimation, while talking to Kavita Rao, it was said that her samples of mutant DNA were stripped of their X-Gene after M-Day. I do not know of an issue number, but there was another instance where Beast was exhuming dead mutant bodies with the same results. Although, what you say makes sense, it seems that Marvel has not given any real explanation as to why some dead mutants retained abilities, while in Messiah Complex they implied that all dead mutants lost their X-Gene. I could be wrong, but I'm definately looking for some feedback here. Drunknesmonsta (talk) 20:33, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although I have no reference point, it seems that I may have jumped the gun. According to Beast in the aftermatch of Decimation, all of the mutant corpses that HE came across had lost their X-Gene, that doesn't mean that EVERY mutant that died before M-Day lost their X-Gene. My mistake, but at the time, it did seem like something worth asking. Drunknesmonsta (talk) 19:56, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
