One of the helmets[edit]

I have obtained this picture, but the picture doesnt seem to match the description. Is this the brass helmet referred to further down? Victuallers (talk) 08:10, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Which helmet is this?

Yes, it is the bronze Newstead helmet (you can see another view of it in Curle's 1911 book -- still under copyright unfortunately), so I have added it to the article. It is a good picture -- thanks for sourcing it! BabelStone (talk) 11:44, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A 1911 book is not under copyright in the U.S. which is where are servers are located which is the standard Wikipedia uses. Wikicommons has different considerations. 75.41.110.200 (talk) 15:11, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It has to be out of copyright in both place of publication and US to be OK for Commons, and as the book was published in Scotland it won't be out of copyright until 70 years after the death of the author who died in 1944 (i.e. 2014). BabelStone (talk) 15:22, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
File:Newstead helmet.jpg is still not *the* Newstead Helmet, but it is the bronze helmetless facemask discovered in Pit 57 (see Plate XXX of Curle's book -- the last item under "Other helmets". BabelStone (talk) 15:17, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
