Barq's info[edit]

Partly done: I have moved those credits to the Filmography section, as there is no citation to support the claim he was a writer for them. Based on the articles for the film, it appears he did appear in them. (though there is no clear reference to that, so it is eligible to be disputed) If you would like to dispute that as well let me know or re-open your edit request. Nick Swardson's place of birth[edit]

You are not the only person to contend this -- I also reverted an edit today where someone claiming to know Swardson also stated he was born in St Paul -- but out of the currently cited as references in the Swardson article, only 5 make any mention of Swardson's origin; they are as follows:
Given that the only 2 articles above that actually specify his place of birth mention Minneapolis and not St Paul, I had initially decided to state in Swardson's article that he was born Minneapolis. However since there is obviously some contention, and since the one article that refers to him as a "St. Paul native" is actually a publication local to the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area, I have decided instead to change the passage to state that he is a native of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul as opposed to definitively stating his place of birth. If anyone can find one or more reliable sources, preferably citing a direct quote from Swardson about his place of birth, then feel free to add it to the article. Hello again, All Hallow's Wraith! I appreciate your attempts to find a references for the missing info in this article. As discussed in the Article expansion and overhaul thread in relation to his place of birth, I'm not so sure we can count on Ancestry.com as a reliable source as per Wikipedia's guidelines. I don't know much about the site, but from what I've read on-line, much of the content is user-generated. I found a few discussion about the use of Ancestry.com as a reference on Wikipedia here, here and here. The discussions mention that some portions of the site are user generated, where others might not be, but the consensus tends to be while the site might be a good resource for info it is not a reliable source in itself. I don't have a user account on Ancestry.com (and don't plan on getting one), but I searched "Nicholas Swardson" in "Minnesota" on their site and it appears you need to be logged in to see whatever birth documents they have on him. Even if the document linked there is his actual birth certificate, then that would make it a primary source which should be avoided in biographies of living persons or at least supported by a reliable secondary source. What I'm talking about is not user-generated. It's the Minnesota Birth Index, straight from the source. It can't be edited and has no connection to users of the site. What is says exactly:

Article expansion and overhaul[edit]

I've expanded Swardson's article quite a bit. Some points of note:

  • Prior to my edits, the only existing reference for Swardson's full birth name was this link which appears to be a website belonging to a DVD store Curitiba, Brazil. I am unable to find any reliable source for his full name, so I opted to remove the existing reference and replace it with a {{Citation needed}} tag.
  • Swardson's "Years Active" in the infobox were listed as "1998–present". I am unsure as to the significance of the year 1998 in his career. Unfortunately I am unable to find specific guidelines to what constitutes "Years Active" so I've decided to change the start date to 1997 since this is year he performed at the US Comedy Arts Festival—his first national exposure as a comedian.
  • While the "odd facts" surrounding the man who was assigned Swardson's old cell number were amusing (as described here), the event itself is not particularly notable (it has not "gained significant independent coverage or recognition" from what I could find on line) and the story isn't really very relevent to Swardson's own personal history nor his career in comedy. I therefore decided to remove that section entirely.
  • I also removed the {{BLP sources}} tag

Thanks for the commendations! 8-) As for the source you've provided for his full name: It's better than the original, but I still don't think it quite qualifies as a reliable source as per Wikipedia's guidelines. I don't doubt that this is truly his full name — after all, his father's name was Roger (I'm going to be adding that shortly too). I did some more digging and have found this bio from the Boston Phoenix's website. It still isn't the best reference since I have no idea what type of editorial oversight is given to bios posted to their website; much like the vast majority of the links I found when I did a web-search on his full name, most have probably copied or mirrored this info directly from Wikipedia, but at least this particular bio is on a site belonging to what I assume is a fairly reputable newspaper, so it's better than nothing...
