edit·history·watch·refresh Stock post message.svg To-do list for Nolan Ryan:
  • Expand even more into Nolan's playing career. A paragraph for his days with each team he played for won't suffice.
  • Get references and citations for Criticisms section of the article.
  • A few more images? Possibly a close-up?
  • Expand Legacy section of the article. Currently, it just mostly contains comparisons between him and Sandy Koufax.

I'm happy to get more cites for the criticisms section, mostly to baseball-almanac.com, I suspect. But what about the rest of the article? There are NO cites anywhere in it.

Basicly, I'm working with an article written by someone who had a slavish devotion to Ryan. I'm trying to make it more balanced--Ryan was a great, but flawed pitcher. The rest of the article needs references.

What do you mean, a paragraph for each team? There's several for each team.

As for the Legacy section, I think it is going to have to be totally overhauled.--Wehwalt 10:36, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

"He also served as the Snow Monkey Ambassador for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission during the mid 1990's." ????? Lecollye (talk) 07:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

His legacy is still in progress but what has been written to date in wiki needs expanding especially his involvemnet in the beef industry. What a great roll model for many reasons.Jehwv (talk) 16:54, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

This is one of the worst pages I have read on Nolan Ryan's career. There is so much more that could be added. Also, there are some claims made here that are cited to take away from a lot of his accomplishments. I certainly don't read claims like these on the pages of any other athletes on Wikipedia!

[edit] Legacy

The first three paragraphs under 'legacy' might be spot on, but they are open to question, since they offer assessment without any references. One would like to see the source for Feller's remarks. If it's not original research, perhaps a knowledgeable party can provide cites. 99.155.206.57 (talk) 01:52, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Unhappily, this is not a well referenced article. Every paragraph in that Legacy section should have references. I do not have the time or inclination to do it, besides the material that I added, that is referenced (the James and ESPN material) keeps getting deleted by Ryan admirers. Someone really needs to take this article in hand.--Wehwalt (talk) 02:07, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
If the deletions continue page protection can be requested; that would be a good time for an interested editor to hunt up and add cites. 99.155.206.57 (talk) 02:12, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
First, find your interested editor! There lies the problem. No one is interested enough to do a really good job on this article.--Wehwalt (talk) 02:16, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
There must be an objective baseball scholar in the state of Texas. Failing that, I nominate my favorite baseball writer [1], should he tire of his day job. 99.155.206.57 (talk) 02:27, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Why is dogs linked in the image caption? Might as well link "plaque" in the next image caption. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.92.70 (talk) 06:34, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

This article needs more pictures, if I met Nolan Ryan right after reading this article I would never recognize him. -RG —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.82.141 (talk) 06:22, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Error at End

Hi. Cimmaron Hills is NOWHERE NEAR Georgetown Texas, not the same county even. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.160.200 (talk) 16:45, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Retired numbers

It says that "He is also one of only seven players to have different numbers retired by two MLB teams, with Carlton Fisk (Red Sox and White Sox), Reggie Jackson (Athletics and Yankees), Rollie Fingers (Brewers and Athletics), Hank Aaron (Brewers and Braves), Greg Maddux (Braves and Cubs), and Jackie Robinson (All MLB) being the others."

I'd question the phrase "different numbers," as Aaron and Maddux have the same number retired by two teams.WHPratt (talk) 17:22, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
