Top photo[edit]

I've just removed File:Nudes-A-Poppin 2009 0005.jpg from the article. I do think that we should have pictures of the nudes involved in Nudes-A-Poppin' in the article, but that photo is liable to shock readers. From Wikipedia:Offensive material: "Material that would be considered vulgar or obscene by typical Wikipedia readers should be used if and only if its omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternative is available." I don't think the photo linked above qualifies under any of those points. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 02:44, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I very much agree with the above argument. I've trawled through the Nudes-A-Poppin' snaps on Wikimedia Commons to try and find a suitable photo, and I picked the one I think is the most useful. If anyone can find a better one please go ahead and use it. I also found it hard to find any reliable information sources on-line; I'm not sure if this is because there are few of them or because it's hard to find them amongst all the amateur videos. It would be great if someone could come up with some useful sources. Polly Tunnel (talk) 18:05, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks User:Victoriaa11 for choosing a new top photo (File:Nudes-A-Poppin_2009_0026.jpg). I'm afraid I've decided to revert it on the basis of the argument above. I realise now I hadn't explained that I'm interpreting Wikipedia:Offensive material in this context as referring to genitals. While photographing genitals seems to be a popular activity at the event, I feel this article will be better received if we can avoid them in the photo. Personally I'd like to find one of those photos of the standing competition line-ups to give a sense of pageant. Those photos very common on-line but I can never find any with free-to-use copyright. Yes very shocking. Now we have to put our children in therapy. Have you no sense of decency at Wikipedia? I read with dismay that your rich founder used to pander pornography for profit, and I am not surprised. Shame!— Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.239.242.222 (talk) 15:45, 25 April 2018‎ (UTC)[reply]

An oil-wrestling contestant at Nudes-A-Poppin' 2018 showing their nude.jpg[edit]

Why should this image be used in the article when there is a perfectly good representation of an oil-wrestler already in place? Use of this image skews ethnicity (although not as much as the previously attempted edits did) and there is no good reason to use it.

Additionally:

  • Do not edit war
  • When you do make edits, use edit summaries to explain your thinking
