Note: article was originally created at the title "Obsidian Use"
Obsidian was also very important to the New Zealand Maori. Perhaps someone feels up to adding an entry on this. In my opinion the entry needs amending to at least note that obsidian is found in many other parts of the world and that many stone age peoples have discovered it to be incredibly useful stuff and have fashioned it into a wide variety of marvellous cultural artifacts. Either that or the entry should be renamed "Obsidian use in MesoAmerica"
This really needs to be at Obsidian use in the ancient New World, or something more meaningful. And note the lower case "u". RickK 02:32, 8 Oct 2003 (UTC)

The Maori TRIBE? We're not talking about a tribe, we're talking about truly sofisticated civilizations. We could write here about every tribe in the world, yet that would be a waste of time and space. True cultures found their way up to civilization (I mean a city-like civilization, not cavern-like "civilization") —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.145.241.3 (talk) 19:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I see no information on a notable use of obsidean in Aztec culture: the 'smoking mirrors', religious devices connected to the god Tezcalipoca that were used in divination. I belive that this should be noted somewhere in the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.100.254.151 (talk) 03:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
No offence, but who actually believes that the Aztecs or Mayans had MONOMOLECULAR EDGES, it's not easy to manufacture blades like that even with modern technology and it was next to impossible before laser sharpening techniques were developed. That part should be removed entirely unless there is objective evidence that they had those kind of blades (ie. some backwood "scientist" interview will not do) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.148.200.120 (talk) 10:21, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
