Why such sparse information on Wikipedia?[edit]

It really surprises me that I'm starting an article like this now, but based on the redlink in Bin Laden family this really is not just an alternate spelling. I am surprised at some of the sketchy or absent entries for other main topics referenced here. If the whole U.S. is obsessed about terrorism, why aren't there more Wikipedia articles to show for it? WAMY link[edit]

While there's one good reference (Greg Palast) and some other weak ones to support Omar's role in organizing WAMY, I find myself a bit skeptical. As of 1996 he should have been 15 years old --- how much actual power could he have wielded? And some of the other references don't even mention him beside Abdallah. I also worry that with some other links saying nephew or cousin and so many similar names that there could be some confusion with an additional Omar in the family. More contributions here would be well served. Wnt (talk) 20:05, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Out and out contradiction[edit]

As reflected in the current version, Omar Osama bin Laden was in Saudi Arabia on September 11, according to CNN. However, Omar Awad bin Laden was one of the people flying out of the U.S. on September 19th according to Frank Lautenberg and the Washington Post. Unless he flew into the U.S. right after the September 11th attacks, there's a problem here. Wnt (talk) 18:15, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it shouldn't be a surprise that the news media would report conflicting information, but in the CNN article cited, I see no mention of Omar's whereabouts on 9/11. Looks like a false citation. Tragic romance (talk) 19:28, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After taking a fourth look, I see that you have to click over to "page 2" of the article for the quote. Shouldn't THAT link be cited instead of page 1? Tragic romance (talk) 19:40, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

[[1]] -baggie

Sorry - every news article cited has an associated picture, and I've seen this one - the problem is that somewhere among the more pious following of copyrights someone has issued a fatwa against "fair use" images of living persons. The only way an image can be accepted is if it's under certain types of free or public domain license. But thanks for trying! Wnt (talk) 13:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The pictures on this page are not irrelevant enough. We need a picture of an ice cream cone (he must eat ice cream, right?), a table and chair, and Kilimanjaro. 208.226.153.25 (talk) 21:13, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed sentence[edit]

I've removed an unsourced sentence taken from the original paragraph under Bin Laden family, which states that Omar returned to Saudi Arabia over an apparent falling out with his father over the September 11th attacks, which he saw as a strategic blunder leading to the fall of the Taliban. I still haven't resolved for sure whether Omar was in Saudi Arabia before the attacks and don't have a source for the statement, though it may be true. Wnt (talk) 06:49, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is Romanian, which is handled well by Wiktionary, or with a really pretty presentation at another site.[2] Unfortunately, Romanian contains a few odd characters that are not properly indexed from the Romanized versions here. More unfortunately, I have discovered that I actually have no knowledge at all of Romanian. My best effort so far: "he is of late a man good on world even is there up. We commend him sillibication binecuvanta Allah into goal of up." We might have need of an expert. Wnt (talk) 00:50, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Biography of a living person[edit]

{{adminhelp}} I noticed that the page wasn't semi-protected...doesn't that go against WP:LIVE? Sorry if this is a false positive, but being new, I need to learn these things... Ballplayer62 (talk) 20:19, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

===Omar and his Wife===
Omar has a great life with his life [[jane felix-browne]] He recently had a son with Deformity.

Not sure what this is about, or if there's any evidence but it looks out of place.
