Where does the name come from? TREKphiler 17:46, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just consulted BCGNIS and there's no name origin info there; by language-origin I'd venture that it's Sekani rather than Carrier - the -eca ending, like the -ika on Osilinka, Mesilinka, Missinchinka, Ospika, etc - seems to be "river" - in Carrier/Dakelh and Tshilhqot'in the same ending is -ko, I think. The best person to ask, unless you can find the Akrigg's Placenames of British Columbia book (and it may not be in there) is User:Billposer who's a specialist in BC Athapaskan languages.Skookum1 (talk) 19:14, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. If I can come up with something remotely authoritative, I'll put it in. TREKphiler 08:55, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
