The link for this article in spanish redirects to "mameluco" (mamluk), so I remove it. --Kimbosirk (talk) 14:38, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Registered trademark

The subject of this article is an article of clothing, not a registered trademark. Per WP:Lead section#First sentence the lead sentence should be a summary of the subject of the article for someone who knows nothing about it. I carefully worded the lead to summarize the subject of the article yet place importance on the fact that the name is a registered trademark that has come into use as a generic term in the U.S. (see List of generic and genericized trademarks#List of protected trademarks frequently used as generic terms for a list of more of these; "Onesie" is hardly the only one).

If users Batesbum (talk · contribs) and Onesiesenforcement (talk · contribs) – both of whom have made no edits to Wikipedia outside of this article – are representatives of Gerber acting in an official capacity, I recommend contacting the Wikimedia Foundation directly. Their mailing address, telephone numbers, and email addresses may be found at wmf:Contact us. An alternative to this would be to move the article to "Infant bodysuit" or some other generic term and mention "Onesie" as a particular brand of "infant bodysuit." After doing some additional reading and thinking it through further, I think a move to Infant bodysuit is the best course of action here. I will move and re-word when I have a chance. I have also added "Onesies" to List of generic and genericized trademarks#List of protected trademarks frequently used as generic terms, as it is (at least in my household) used generically in the same vein as "Crock-Pot", "Band-Aid", and "Scotch tape." KuyaBriBriTalk 19:36, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Done. An article titled "Onesies" would be appropriate if the article was about the brand name and its history (e.g., Band-Aid), but the article is about the garment in general and therefore should have a generic title. KuyaBriBriTalk 12:52, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
The "count the google-hits" type of ref is fairly weak evidence. So I added a link to the WIPO decision regarding "onesites.net", in which the panel states "The term onesie is commonly used in the United States of America to designate a one-piece, t-shirt-like baby garment that has snaps at the crotch to keep it from riding up and exposing the babys tummy." rather than just that it is a trademarked term for such things.
