Story is false[edit]

Agreed. Completely preposterous story, and one is left wondering what "Rezun notes that in this article Höhne for some reason omits the fact that Canaris had visited Tehran on the eve of German attack on the Soviet Union." has to do with the price of cheese. The meeting in Teheran was '43, and Canaris was there in '41? Before the invasion?!?? Rezun is an idiot. Agreed also, I am at a complete loss at what the relevance of Canaris visiting Teheran in 1941 is supposed to be? It was years before the allies would have even been considering holding a meeting there.

Furthermore, why would an intelligence agency send it’s own leader (and therefore arguably it’s most recognisable member) on some sort of early reconnaissance mission for a clandestine assassination attempt? It doesn’t even begin to make sense, his visit to Teheran in 1941 is so obviously completely unrelated that it has no bearing whatsoever on the veracity of ‘operation long jump’ one way or another, and so I believe it should be removed from the article, it’s just adding noise. 2A00:23C8:2688:A401:B4CA:6F67:63DB:5597 (talk) 18:32, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet invention[edit]

This article should either be deleted or completely re-written. "Hans Ulrich von Ortel" didn't exist; Soviet intelligence invented the story.
