[edit] Columbia and Victor recordings
I reverted as in this case 64.48.74.4 was correct rather than Pitchka. Pitchka's version is understandable as many written sources have given the story that way, but it's been known in the record collecting community for at least some 15 years that the 2 Columbia sides were actually recorded AFTER the first 2 Victor sides-- the master numbers and chronology are doccumented, and this is known to be so. -- Infrogmation 23:16, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Title
The "Jazz" spelling is certianly more well known. Title should be changed. Zazaban 23:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- I disagree. It was while it was still spelled "Jass" that they made their first and most important recordings and had their greatest historical influence. We have a redirect from the "Jazz" spelling already anyway. -- Infrogmation 23:36, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- The name was changed in 1917. Before Livery Stable Blues and before Tiger Rag. Zazaban 22:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

- Not before the first recordings of those numbers. It is spelled "Jass" on the original issues of the first Victors, Columbias, and all the A-Vs. -- Infrogmation 03:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jass/Jazz
Should it be Jazz instead of Jass? --98.28.62.205 (talk) 22:55, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
The name of the article should be changed. Their first single came out in 1917, and they changed their name to "Jazz" band from "Jass" in the same year. From then on, everything they released was under the name "Jazz" and not "Jass". When you have a listing for any other band you wouldn't put them under their old name before their commercial success. "Madness" aren't listed as "The Invaders". Apart from being inconsistent, it is just plain silly. --86.163.91.248 (talk) 13:26, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- A counter argument is that their most important historically (and also best seller records) came out when they billed themselves as "Jass". Their later work was of less importance. -- Infrogmation (talk) 18:56, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
