Edibility[edit]

On the island of Antigua these boxfish are referred to as 'shellfish' and they are an eatabale delicacy. They are prepared by slicing the underbelly of the fish and scooping out the guts. Then the belly is stuffed with stuffing (like stove top stuffing, the same way you would stuff a turkey) and spices and butter. The most popular method of cooking it is on the grill but it can also be baked. When it is finished, you tap the hard outer shell & peel it away (the same way you would peel a hard boiled egg), leaving just the tender fish and the stuffing. The fish meat is tender and has a texture like a mix between chicken and fish. The dish is called 'Stuffed Shellfish'.Jackster69 (talk) 15:32, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cowfish[edit]

"Cowfish" apparently is also another name for Common galaxias fish. -- œ 07:40, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Scales or bony plates?[edit]

Just mentioning: the Scales article says that "boxfish" (links here) have bony plates consisting of modified skin, not true scales, making up their carapace. This article disagrees.

I'm no ichthyologist and don't have an opinion. IAmNitpicking (talk) 15:10, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
