Hotline telephone sound[edit]

Does anyone have a ringtone that sounds like the Hot Phone in the Flint movies? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.59.102.101 (talkcontribs) 2005-09-11T04:41:14 (UTC)

There is a reference link in the article to a YouTube video that contains a sample clip of the sound from the movies. It's up to you to figure out how to turn it into a ringtone. I believe the sound was generated with a standard Touch-Tone dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) telephone, so if you're fleet-fingered, you could also play it on an old pushbutton desk phone and record your performance. — Foxtrot1296 (talk) 13:28, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apprechiate?![edit]

Apprechiate?!?!? I would think (or apprechiate) we would use a dictionary or SOMETHING when creating articles for an encyclopedia.

Agreed. A spell checker and thesarus would be nice. Then I wouldn't have to make simple mistakes like that. --J-Star 16:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need article on Derek Flint?[edit]

I attempted to create an article on Derek Flint, and I got this article. (I was doing this prior to creating links to parody and spy films.) Dogru144 17:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Flint coburn movieposter.jpg[edit]

Image:Flint coburn movieposter.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Parody? Spoof[edit]

There's very little spoof or comedies the way normal spoof movies have. Doesn't seem like a parody at all.--Jondel (talk) 09:43, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I was young when I saw it but if it was a spoof, it was a very subtle one. My understanding is that it was an attempt to cash in on what was seen to be a new and winning formula in the wake of the early Bond films.

Are you aware the Hotline the President uses to chew out the head of ZOWIE plays Taps as a ringtone? It was subtle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.185.60.128 (talk) 13:32, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the best bit was the high dive at the end :)

A "spoof" is something that usually can't be sued for plagarism; the Bond producers probably could have brought action against the producers. I believe many superspy films of the '60's were called "spoofs" though they weren't all out "Get Smart"/Carry On Spying" types.Foofbun (talk) 20:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if it's a "spoof" as opposed to a "parody" but it is subtle nonsense from beginning to end. It clearly doesn't take itself seriously. Flint's gadgets are absurd. I would like to know who plays that saxophone, though. Wastrel Way (talk) Eric

Global warming[edit]

The movie kind of shows global warming used as a science-fiction weapon (rising temperatures in the arctic are mentioned repeatedly, etc.). AnonMoos (talk) 20:33, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
