Military history?[edit]

It seems to me that Military history is not a technology. Conduct of military operations has been guided by use of civilian-derived technologies and military art often derived from contemporary philosophies. Often the technology is better described as organisational structuring such as massed use of archers. Military technologies that were distinctly military in application were (off the top of my head): Combat armouring Sail and masting Gunnery Rocket science Automatic fire Turreted naval guns Indirect fire ranging Submarines Mining (land and naval) Aircraft bombing (as opposed to thrown bombs) Vehicle armouring (tanks and APCs) Missile guidance Logistic standardisation GPS guidance

would like to propose: history of turbomachinery can you imagine any modern city without water pumps? 50 plus years or flight and rocketry grew through turbomachinery. many future energy sources are and will include horizontal and vertical and axial wind-turbines, fuel cell turbocharging, and high efficiency hybrid power cycles using pumps, compressors and turbines. new heart assist pumps are improving the quality of life for many individuals.
