[edit] Louisiana

I wonder why Louisiana has parishes while all the other states have counties. Does anybody know? --Pee Wee 17:57, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

It's because of Louisiana's high Roman Catholic Population. Louisiana used to have counties, but these were changed over to parishes shortly after statehood. Sf46 (talk) 00:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] how to abbreviate Parish?

Does anyone know if you can abbreviate parish, like county is 'co.'? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.139.118.222 (talk) 18:55, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
