Talk:Pedro Mountain Road

I don't have the Barbara VanderWerf 'Montara Mountain' book handy, but I am pretty sure that I recall that she writes that that Highway 1 did not replace Pedro Mountain Road. Instead, Highway 1 replaced another road, connecting from Higgen's Road, and running to the east, crossing over the 'saddle' at Montara Mountain. I vaguely recall that this road was called 'Route ##', but am not sure the ##. I do recall a conversation with an old person who recalled driving this road. Remnants of the road exist today, and are used for mountain biking. What Vanderwerf calls the Pedro Mountain Road remnants also exist today, and connect to the Shamrock Ranch and are primarily used as a horse trail. My memory may be wrong, this should be confirmed with the Vanderwerf book. I am planning to do some more research on possible changes of the routing of the coastal highway. Although I no longer live in Montara, California, as I did from 1985 to 1989, I still return to the area once a year. I also want to verify the date that the Devil's Slide highway was opened.
