Object permanence discussion out-of-date/discredited[edit]

This article seems to indicate that young children are not aware that an object still exists if it's outside their vision. If you follow the link in this article to "object permanence", you'll notice that this idea is considered discredited in modern psychology. Some revisions are thus in order on this page so as not to perpetuate a discredited theory. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.216.78 (talk) 06:59, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

This recent edit (diff)[edit]

This very partial take on the general idea of peekaboo seems dubious as is. At the minimum, it needs a clearly labeled separate section. "According to a critical essay by X" obviously belongs with several of the statements that are inappropriate, as is, in the encyclopedia's editorial voice; for example, the encyclopedia should not be stating that the messianic age is an adult peekaboo anticipation of the off-screen, etc. Moreover, since this section isn't about the game, the fact that an essayist has hung it on the term "peekaboo" may not make it appropriate for this article; isn't object permanence the more general article about the cognitive phenomenon, and wouldn't the section on adult "peekaboo" phenomena belong there? Winning[edit]

So how do you win? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.89.237.147 (talk) 18:35, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

It's not a game you can win, you just play. Ohhaieveryone (talk) 01:02, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Peekaboo look[edit]

What about peek-a-boo look and similar avt. that flow around - eg:

Veronica Lake is shown when she was the "peek-a-boo look" movie star in the 1940s. Metamorphius (talk) 22:37, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Fixing vandalism[edit]

This article was vandalised on December 13, 2013. I have restored the entire lead para. This was made worse because ClueBot began reverting the editors who tried to fix the article. --Greenmaven (talk) 00:58, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
