'Fart' theory[edit]

Doesn't this postulate that the name is given in a form which somehow predates Grimm's *p > f, but *t > þ has happened twice? The t of fart is a Germanic one, not a PIE one. Germanic *t is PIE *d or glottalised *t' (cf Greek πορδη). Koro Neil (talk) 10:23, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. A p in Old English is a p in Modern English. It seems to me that this "theory" has been conceived by someone who desperately needed a good laugh. Steinbach (talk) 22:49, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
