Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was not moved. This move would require a demonstration of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which has not been attempted. --BDD (talk) 19:11, 3 January 2013 (UTC) (non-admin closure)[reply]

Florence Airport, PeretolaFlorence Airport – This is the official name from the airport's website. Relisted. BDD (talk) 20:01, 27 December 2012 (UTC) Wind of freedom (talk) 00:17, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - "Peretola" is used to avoid confusion for readers. There are other airports with similar names, including of the United States. --George Ho (talk) 22:48, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 7 June 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move with consensus after 1 relisting. To perform the move, I'm planning to re-purpose the disambiguation page as a redirect to the new "Florence Airport" from "Florence Airport, Peretola". – Clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Florence Airport", as this is the Florence Airport with the most airline service. Page view statistics show that this is by far the most viewed out of the four Florence Airports. SSTflyer 10:23, 7 June 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. Music1201 talk 04:13, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am agnostic about the proposal but the current title, Florence Airport, Peretola, has a pretty much useless disambiguator. Who would even know they are flying to Peretola on holiday? Move it somewhere. —  AjaxSmack  20:20, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Looks like a clear primary topic to me based on page views and Google search, but also given that this is an international airport and that the city Florence has priority over all other settlements of the same name. The obscure disambiguator currently given to this article is more likely to confuse readers rather than help them. PC78 (talk) 16:42, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support but not for reasons offered. If the name of the airport really was "Florence-Peretola Airport" as the Italian name suggests, then the article should stay even if it was the primary topic for "Florence Airport" (just as Narita International Airport shouldn't be moved to "Tokyo Airport", even if it's probably the primary topic for it.). However, I couldn't find any evidence of use of the old "Peretola" name on the website, sooooo I'm not even sure if Peretola is part of the name anymore, rendering the disambiguator outdated at best and wrong at worst.
