[edit] Tone & Style read like a brochure
While nothing appears to be wrong factually with this article, it sounds like PR, so I added the advertising warning template. For example, the following sentences sound like they were lifted directly from marketing materials:
- The Philadelphia Zoo is one of the premier zoos in the world for breeding animals that have been found difficult to breed in captivity.
- In addition, the Channel 6 Zooballooon, which soars 400 feet in the air, offers one of the best views of the Zoo and the city skyline.
- In 2006 the Philadelphia Zoo opened a new, $20-million Bank of America Big Cat Falls exhibit. The new Zoo experience creates a stunning landscape of lush habitats and waterfalls where guests can come face to face with 12 endangered big cats from around the world, including three new snow leopard cubs, three new puma kittens and a new black jaguar cub.
At the very least, the language is not particularly appropriate for an encyclopedia and should be rewritten. --ishu 02:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Gallery Additions
Added a good number of my photos to the gallery for now to give a better idea of the actual content of the zoo. Any suggestions for more? I must have something like 200 pictures of my camera from the place, only added 6 or so. RegBarc 00:52, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Missing History Section.
I noticed that besides the date in the infobox, there is no information on the going ons of the zoo between opening and the fire in 1995. That fire should be moved to the history section when it written. Can someone familiar with the zoo write an History section. BeckyAnne(talk) 14:17, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Assessment
This article needs to be expanded and have more citations. In addition, the sections just seem to run on forever, and Features is just a long list. "Recent events" are not necessarily recent (we should try not to use relative temporal terms, as they are easily outdated). Part of this is history, and part of it could probably be in an "Incidents" section. Deaths and births happen all the time at zoos, and are not generally notable. For instance "a giraffe was born" is not notable -- Denver Zoo has had births for the last four years at least, with two last year and this year. New animals are also not generally notable, though new major exhibits are. THey belong a "The future" section while under construction, and get moved to "Exhibits" (with possibly a mention in "History") when they are opened. I am re-rating to C-class for now. Make sure that the B-class checklist in the WPZOO banner is all covered before re-rating to B-class. Donlammers (talk) 12:37, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
