Merger proposal [edit]
Portsmouth Island, North Carolina deals with much the same material as this article. The island (which is only a separate island at the highest tides) is pretty much the same area as the village, and the terms Portsmouth Island, Portsmouth Village and Portsmouth seem to be used interchangeably. We do not have separate articles for Ocracoke and Ocracoke Island, and there seems to be even less reason to have separate articles for Portsmouth and Portsmouth Island.--Mhockey (talk) 02:30, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
