Fair use rationale for Image:Pvacant.PNG[edit]

Image:Pvacant.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Pretty vacunt?[edit]

I'm removing the following claim since it is unsourced and frankly implausible, considering (a) it doesn't sound like he's singing 'cunt' and (b) Johnny Rotten knew how to swear properly on national TV.

"Provocatively, in the chorus the name of the song is sung with heavy emphasis on the final syllable; so that it sounds like the word cunt. Despite this, this song marked the band's only appearance on the British music show Top of the Pops during their heyday, as they thought John Lydon was using an Irish accent."

If you think it should be restored please discuss here.

I agree. It sounds like vacant to me too. Va'cunt' just doesn't make any sense and is the sort of thing a sniggering schoolboy might suggest. As you say, Rotten was quite capable of swearing and if he had wanted to say cunt he would have. As it seems to have been restored I'll remove it again.

Rotten liked word games and used it in songs so it sounds plausible. I recall it was intentional, but haven't got a source for that. Other examples is the "anarchist" / "antichrist" and "I use the enemy" / "I use the NME" word games. // Liftarn (talk)
I don't know about the Top of the Pops & the Irish accent story (which disappeared anyway) but the 'vay-cunt' part is correct according to Lydon and Savage. I've added two sources for the sentence. --Fernando H (talk) 15:37, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'll be. Seems I was wrong then! Lfh (talk) 18:20, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because of guys like you, I no longer contribute content. A thoughtful person would have said something like 'sorry' after being slapped down by a credible cite. And now, I will no longer respond to the donate banners. I don't care how old you are, or how long ago it was, grow up and add your apology like any normal human being would have done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.254.90.34 (talk) 15:34, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
