Donlyn Lyndon[edit]

When did Lyndon make his pronouncement of it's ugliness? Only material on the web cites this page. ScottMainwaring 09:39, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Upon its completion in 1964, the Prudential was the tallest building in the world outside of New York City,..." ; other wiki pages indicate other buildings are already taller, such as the main tower of Moscow state university. You sure this shouldn't say tallest in the USA outdid nyc, not the world? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.91.107.12 (talk) 16:52, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

I would just like to say that I have never heard anbody call it The Pru, as is stated in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.31.210.149 (talk) 19:11, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the local news stations do that to shorten headlines, and I have heard people call it that before. Leo-Roy! review/gb 16:18, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be properly sourced. I don't know whether that's been done since the above comments were made. A quick search of the Globe shows 467 references to "the Pru" between 1980 and today, does anyone think we need more than the two that are there already?Dpbsmith (talk) 00:10, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Change to 77th tallest building[edit]

I adjusted this as it is no longer 26th. Jbossbarr 15:35, 24 February, 2012 (UTC)

Language[edit]

Needs upgrading to English.

1. Sentence 2 of the article says the Pru "stands as" the 2nd-tallest building in Boston. That tells me it is not the 2nd-tallest building; it only "stands as" that, whatever that means.

Do you mean it -is- the 2nd-tallest building in Boston? If so, say it.

2. As in much amateur writing, the phrase "behind 200 Clarendon Street" is simply tacked onto the end of the sentence, without a tie-in. It is a separate thought wrongly linked to the Pru's height. What it says is that a building at 200 Clarendon Street, different from the Prudential Tower, is the 2nd-tallest building in Boston, beating out the Pru.

I presume you mean the street address of the Pru is 200 Clarendon St.? If so, say it.

Etc.

Tallest building outside of New York City until 1964[edit]

"Upon its completion in 1964, the Prudential was the tallest building in the world outside of New York City, surpassing the Terminal Tower in Cleveland, Ohio."

This line is unsourced, and hilariously, proven wrong by Wikipedia's own entry on the Terminal Tower, which is 771 feet tall (compared with the Prudential at 749 ft).158.121.83.75 (talk) 17:18, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
