Consciousness[edit]

Ok people, Inspired partial pressure redirects here so I would hope you would have something about the required minimums and maximums for Oxygen and Nitrogen and Argon for normal breathing, the upper and lower limits, limits for not dying and limits for even remaining conscious. I came looking for this, and I need to know this and I couldn't find it. 24.79.38.15 (talk) 03:21, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Human Limits for Inspired Partial Pressures of Gases[edit]

(Dole pp. 15-16)

Gas
Millimeters,........ Millibars
of Mercury

Min/Max,........... Min/Max

Oxygen
72/400,............ 96/533

Nitrogen
0/2330,........... 0/3106

Carbon Dioxide
0/7,............ 0/9

Totals
72/2737,........ 96/3645

Atmospheric Pressure
Airless < .001 Atm
Unbreathably thin atmosphere < .095 Atm (72 mm Hg)
Thin atmosphere < 0.5 Atm
Normal atmosphere .5 - 2 Atm
Thick atmosphere 2.0 Atm >
Unbreathably thick atmosphere > 8 Atm

Millimeter of mercury[edit]

"One millimeter of mercury is approximately 1 Torr, that is, 1/760 of standard atmospheric pressure."
Therefore, 760 mmHg is one of the middle numbers I came looking for. 24.79.38.15 (talk) 03:30, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SOL Vv (CALLISTO)[edit]

Terraformed satellite of Jupiter for a Type 1 Terran Planet.
Its orbit is at 6.275 LS (1,882,500 km) from Jupiter with a 16.7 day revolution.
The day is 25 hours and 17 minutes.
Temperature ranges from -25°C in winter to 25°C in summer with a managed climate.
Atmosphere is Terran with 550mm and 02 at 175 mm.
Diameter is 5175 km for a gravity of 0.31 G.

  • I came looking to check if this would be an accurate IPP for a terraformed Callisto. Probably a question for the reference desk,
but I should have been able to figure it out myself, if the article was written properly. 24.79.38.15 (talk) 04:00, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
