Puzz LoopBallistic (video game) – per WP:TRANSLITERATE, the name should Ballistic as that is the exclusive name it uses in english territories and covered as such in english languages. Puzz Loop is only the japanese name. Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 21:35, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose It was first released in Japan as Puzz Loop and as that's not a terrible complicated name in English, it is fair to keep it as such. --Masem (t) 22:03, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Neither Biohazard, or Pocket Monsters are complicated names in English either and were both reloaded in Japan first but we’ve never seriously considered renaming Resident Evil or Pokemon. Is there some reason this is any different?--67.70.24.141 (talk) 22:24, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Those cases, we have a clear WP:COMMONNAME factor. I don't think that Puzz Loop or Ballistic has any clear popularity either direction to make one a common name factor, so we should stick with the original name --Masem (t) 22:41, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What's the argument for COMMONNAME here? I just ask because I'd only heard of it as Ballistic prior to this discussion. (I know that sounds anecdotal, but I'm not taking a stance yet, I'm just legitimately curious.) Sergecross73 msg me 05:00, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At least for me, this game is not as mainstream as Pokemon or RE, with multiple entries and discussions as to make the English name clearly the COMMONNAME here. The obscurity of the game (in a relative sense) makes it harder to really get the same sense of importance that "Ballastic" has more sticking power over "Puzz Loop" in English sources if applying the COMMONNAME principle, in addition to the fact that we're not stumbling over kanji or other weird formatting to get Puzz Loop spelt right. While there might be a small edge to the frequency of Ballistic for COMMONNAME purposes, that really should only then apply when it is clear one term dominates over the other, and hence why I don't think COMMONNAME has applicability here. --Masem (t) 13:46, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose all current referenced websites call it "Puzz Loop", including Gamasutra which is a reliable source, and none "Ballistic". The arcade game was released as "Puzz Loop" (an English title) in all territories, changing it to this ambiguous name ports used should not be preferred per WP:UCRN, WP:QUALIFIER. -Vipz (talk) 23:07, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
