Medal Discredited:
There is room here to discuss the discrediting of this medal as a Gong for the senior ranks. Akin to the many medals issued these are mainly awarded to senior police officers of ACPO rank which discredits the validity of the honor. Yes there are a handful given out to Constables and Sergeants even Inspectors every year since the early 90s but predominately it is the senior ranks rewarding themselves for taking their pay and climbing to higher ranks. They rarely improve or enrich the police being almost exclusively self fullfilling their ambition or rank and pay not service to the public or the Crown.
Controversial I know but open for discussion.

Renaming[edit]

Does the renaming apply retroactively to those awarded it before the death of Queen Elizabeth II? So is John Smith QPM now John Smith KPM, or is KPM only used by those awarded it from now onwards and previous recipients continue to use QPM? Proteus (Talk) 15:15, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would think it should be the name used when it was awarded and not change it retrospectively. Keith D (talk) 17:36, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
