Yellow Title Cards?

Should it be mentioned that Tarantino tends to use a very stylized (often different than promotional) yellow title card in his movies? Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown all feature yellow titles in the opening credits. Kill Bill had a yellow title after the credits. The title card for Death Proof(black and white), as you know, is cut over top of "Thunder Bolt" which is in yellow text. Finally, Inglorious Bastards uses an almost hand-printed title card which is again... yellow! Now many could generalize that QT just uses yellow on black in all of his credits, but this is a rather inconsistent generalization as he just 'mostly' uses yellow in his credits. I've done some google searching and I cannot find any specific source that exactly states his use of yellow title cards... But it's true! 174.3.75.253 (talk) 15:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I assume that you mean, "It should be an homage rather than a homage? Both of those forms are valid, as explained in the article Homage, therefore I won't change it; the original French word would be pronounced with a silent "h", and thus would take the indefinite form 'an', but (sadly in my opinion) it is becoming increasingly anglicised, with an 'ard 'aitch. Or should that be 'anglicized? The article in question uses American English, so the change is not required. C'est la vie. Point taken on the fact that either a homage or an homage are accepted.

My hunch is that when Quentin himself uses the word, he is likely to use the french form. I base this hunch on various interviews I have seen of him in which he loves to sprinkle french words and on his general love of language.

Based on the above, and as a way to pay homage to Quentin, I would rather see "an homage" than "a homage" as that is how I suspect he would prefer it.

Would that one day I would have the chance to ask him myself!!?

African-American Perspective

My edit that adds Denzel Washington's confrontation with Tarantino on his racial slurs was removed by the user: Nymf. I'm assuming I am about to get in an edit war(and allowing some moderators to get involved) unless there is a viable reason why that was removed.

italian crime movies

I changed "giallo" in "poliziotteschi" because "giallo" is the italian equivalent of "noir" while Mr Tarantino pay much more inspiration (steal more stuff :-) ) to italian crime movies (poliziotteschi) of the sixties seventies as he often said in his interview in europe (last Cannes and Venice Film Festivals for example). Movie Theater Purchase

He mentioned that he purchased a theater that was in danger of being closed down on The Late Late Show, but wasn't able to catch the name of the theater or a reference on his article. Trunk shots, other tropes

Shouldn't there be some mention of Tarantino's various stylistic trademarks, like the trunk shot, or Mexican standoff, or cellphone shot, maybe these sorts of things? Would it be okay to put them in the Influence and style section? Combine "Early life" and "Personal life"

Just a thought: should the "Early life" and "Personal life" sections be combined into a "Biography" section? I'm not sure if film biographies have a different template from regular biographies, but one section might be easier on the reader. This might also give a change to weed some of the duplicate and trivial information out of the Personal life section.--Nkgal (talk) 17:09, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I went ahead with the change. I ended up commenting out two paragraphs that I couldn't fit in "Early life", one on Robert Rodriguez, which I think is just duplicating information elsewhere in the article, and one on Kurt Cobain, some of which might be okay to move to the article on Pulp Fiction or its soundtrack. Hey, I saw the efforts to combine these sections was reverted. There's was a good deal of duplicate information in the "Personal life" section. For example, it gave a different age for when Tarantino quit high school, and repeated all his projects with Rodriguez, which are already listed in "Film career". I also think that the connection to Kurt Cobain is trivial, but am certainly willing to consider it if we can fix the sourcing. I've also done what I mentioned above, and created a "Credits" section to organize the several subsections that had been distributed throughout the page. I'd also love some help creating a "Recurring collaborators" table similar to the one on Wes Anderson's article. Do editors like that idea?--Nkgal (talk) 20:34, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
