Logo?

Is the company logo based on Hokusai's Behind the Great Wave woodcut? They look awfully similar.--Metron4 18:32, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

It's possible, but I'm a bit cynical, considering that Quiksilver was founded by a couple of young surfers that I somehow doubt were familiar with Japanese art. As such, I think it really needs a source before we claim that it was actually based on the image. Rebecca 04:24, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm sure it is. I've heard it from some designers of Quiksilver Europe. Kelly Slater painted himself his surfboards during the early 90's, sometimes with an Hokusai-inspired Quiksilver logo, I'll link a photo as soon as I found one, you'll see this is obvious. Later, Slater's design has been used by the brand on boardshorts, t-shirts etc. And don't be so cynical about surfers, thank you--Maison mere des rumeurs 04:29, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

This is correct. Older logos (circa 1980s and 90's) mirror the Hokusai image much more accurately than the standard contemporary streamlined logo frequently displayed. Silver Edition has retained this retro image as a sort of nostalgic homage to its more mature target market. If you delete this information, delete also the description of the logo. That would be fairer. But think about it, it is stupid for Wikipedia, who needs this kind of trivia. Australian origins

Origin of Roxy name
