Untitled[edit]

If Josephus invented the Essenes, how can they be mentioned also in Philo and in Pliny? Das Baz 18:18, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

He didn't invent the Essenes. The article is saying that her theory is wrong precisely because the Essenes were mentioned before Jospehus ever wrote about them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.139.102.240 (talk) 00:37, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Criticism?[edit]

How does this article immediately start with a section on criticisms of Elior's work, without first giving any kind of description or outline of her work? How can an article criticize her viewpoints, with out first presenting her viewpoints as she herself presents them? Isn't this some kind of violation of Wikipedia policy? Or at least, of scholarly objectivity?Jimhoward72 (talk) 10:04, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
