Geography (and history)[edit]

I would be very interested in reading more about the natural geography of the area, e.g the route of the river, and historical info like the site of the rath, and the history of the graveyard. (?)

OK. I will ask some fellow locals to drop by- I know one has a little sketch of the main river's course. And to do something about pictures as the page is a bit light on those. For now just a couple of small corrections.83.250.205.255 14:02, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Well well - improved massively since I last checked old Northside territories back in Feb. Well done to all the many who seem to have contributed! S. Whelan. 62.23.3.58 16:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Well done to the various contributors since I last logged on, and the person who tidied things up. I note the population figure, which is similar to my own summing of the six electoral wards of the area, two entirely in Raheny and four mostly. Thanks to the weird nature of electoral boundaries in Ireland, and the regrettable failure to match them to real areas, precision with population is difficult, whereas land area is at least roughly feasible.
Could still use some more history and I can try to help there. Twilson r 11:39, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Postcards[edit]

I see the postcards mentioned above. I remember different types, many years ago, and then reappearing back around 2000. Last time I saw them was maybe 2005, with two series, one of old map images, one of small scenes from all over the district. The latter I remember being on sale in Barry Walsh's Post Office in aid of the Hospice, the former I think were in the library, which also has some old maps on the wall. Would anyone have some unused to post, as mine are all long used for actual mailing.

And while I am on, have we any Gaeilgeoiri to write a few words? There was an Irish language association, was it Pobal Eanna, but I don't recall hearing of it for many years. Twilson r 12:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I see one of the postcards has now been added. Excellent, a whole range of visual information in one package. 194.237.142.7 15:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
And I see a call for more. I think I have 2-3 designs around the house and will check on the potential for reuse, in WP or Commons.

Edenmore[edit]

Without creating yet another "suburb", having seen some dubious specimens about, could Edenmore have an article as a sub-district or locality? 195.96.72.22 13:20, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

People[edit]

Could we have something on families like the Barlows and Hayes? And more on the special buildings (even if many good ones are now gone). 217.213.109.102 09:03, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Quiet[edit]

The word 'quiet' in describing Raheny seems fairly biased so I've removed it. Allthecoolnamesweretaken 14:25, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
