Confusion between largest and 'primate' cities[edit]

Geographers seem to draw a distinction between the ‘primate city distribution’ versus the ‘rank size rule’. So the largest city in a nation or region is not necessarily a primate city, as the article previously suggested. [1] [2] Pondle (talk) 21:54, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hasn't this been discredited?[edit]

I'm pretty sure that the simple rank-size distributions described here have been discredited for city size within an urban network and for income. 173.66.211.53 (talk) 21:22, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Needs clean-up on several levels including: add sections, wikify, better references. This is used in several fields outside statistics (maybe more than within statistics) and needs to be both clearer and more technically accurate. Qwfp (talk) 14:16, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
