[edit] Question

Riff or Rif? --Oldak Quill 19:52, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I don't know, but I've created Republic of the Rif as a redirect here. Google has lots more hits for "Republic of the Riff"... but they're all Wikipedia mirrors. --rbrwr± 17:38, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
If you add "-wikipedia" to the search terms then "Rif" wins hands down. But I don't know how to reverse the redirect. 19 Aug 2005
'Tis done. Jobh 14:49:36, 2005-08-23 (UTC)
It is decidedly "Rif" - "Riff" would be an entirely different (non-existant) word in Arabic. Any transliterations that use a double-f are archaic and also misleading. This is also quite the stub, perhaps it should be marked as such. The Frog 21:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rif and the Alaouite dinasty

It would be interesting to mention in the article the relationship between the Rif republic and the Alaouite kingdom of Morocco, which I suspect were not friendly, if not opposed itself. Mountolive 05:18, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current value

If I had £1 Sterling note in 1925, I could obtain myself 24 of these 1 riff banknotes. Despite the collapse of the Rif Republic, these 24 banknotes could with some ease fetch me USD 1200,00. Does the increased value come from the mis-spelling on the banknotes, or is it something else?
