Better picture of Riverdale House Museum needed[edit]

I added the only one on Wikimedia for now, but it's not the best view of the museum. If anyone has or can take good pictures, please upload them to Wikimedia commons and then post a note here. Wikimedia and Wikimedia commons both have to get your personal permission (by email) to use your pictures.
Alternately (and even easier) you can post a picture to Flickr and then (very important) you have to then change the setting for that specific photo to "Pubblic Commons 2.0" use or Wikipedia/Wikimedia wuill not accept them.
(You relinquish any copryright to the picture). Please note that copyrights are automatic now, you now own the copyright as soon as you take the picture, there is no paperwork anymore, So you have to relinquish your copyright or Wikipidia/Wikimedia can not use your picture.

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT-- please also mark your pictures "Riverdale Maryland" or "Riverdale Park Marfyland" or no one will never be able to search for your picture. It might be on the Internet but it will still be completely unsearchable by any means.

    • Other Riverdale area pictures would really help as well.
Thanks! :-)

Uh, Cliff...there never has been paperwork for a copyright. John from Idegon (talk) 22:43, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
How old are you John? There used to be a copyright office in Washington D.C. and you used to have to send a copy of your manuscript there, including any photos. When I was much younger I called that office about some of my writing. Cliffswallow-vaulting (talk) 23:01, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also "Uh, Cliff" is sarcastic language. Please maintain respectful decorum when addressing me, as you should be aware, Wikipedia requires this.

Image sizes[edit]

Images in the article are made larger for the following reasons:

Building and neigborhood shots on the right of the article:

However as a concession to other editor, although enlarged, it is not as big as it was before.
  • Calvert cemetery plaque image, MOS:IMAGES (exceptions made for when key details, like text, can not otherwise be read) and
However as a concession to other editor, although enlarged enough for readability, it is not as big as it was before.
  • Also, all images on the right are made the same size as per MOS:IMAGES (exception for making all pictures the same size to preserve attractive appearance of the article).

Recent changes[edit]

Please please make yourself aware of the guidelines for city articles found at the Wikiproject Cities, which is linked above. Also pertinent might be WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:EW and WP:BRD. Thanks. I'm out for the weekend. Let's not blow up the servers before Monday please. John from Idegon (talk) 22:42, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will read the policies that you suggested that I read.
But please, please also don't make this into "Stranglepedia", where nothing can happen and no good articles can be made, because WP:MOS is being used like WP:Dumping regulations like a ton of bricks on people.
I'm done for the day too, but I will read the articles you suggested.
have a nice weekend.

Hi. Just looked at the article, and, sorry, but it is not in good shape. I can see you've put a great number of edits lately, but the article isn't even close to following guidelines for cities. It needs copy-editing as well (in fact, I'm adding copy edit and citation tags to the beginning of the article), there are virtually NO citations, and the history section (even though it is not labeled as such) really needs major work in order to conform to the guidelines. The guidelines are there not to discourage creativity, but to guide folks as they attempt to build better articles, based on what has worked in the past. My suggestion would be to look at city articles which have been rated FA, and use them as examples. Examples of these are Boston, Houston, Cleveland, Erie.
The comments regarding WP:NPOV, WP:EW and WP:BRD are also well warranted.
One other thing, if you're going to cite a WP note or guideline, it should really be one that exists.Onel5969 (talk) 01:40, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
