this article says that "upon release from active duty, he was assigned to the U.S. Air Forcce Academy in Colorado Springs." This isn't possible: The US Air Force was not established until 1947, and teh Academy was not created by Congress until 1954. Prior to that West Point cadets could ask for assignement to the USAF.
the author of this article should correct it.
