Please can someone advise on how to rewrite the page according to wiki style guidlines? Felicity Waters (talk) 18:52, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For starters, encyclopedia articles don't include pulled-out chunks of reviews like, "Bear Hug 'expanded on tawdry sensibilities by going beyond council-estate naturalism and using boldly theatrical devices such as ... a teenager turned into a bear' That kind of thing belongs on advertisements, not in reference works. Keep to simple statements of facts about French, not about what other people he worked with are famous for. Remember: notability is not contagious; you can't "catch" it by working with a notable person. If the readers want to know why these people are notable, they will click on the links for them. Article has now been edited as advised, thanks for all comments. French is notable because: (A) Any biography - 1. The person has received a notable award or honour. (B) Creative professionals - 1. The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by their peers. (C) Creative professionals - 3. The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of ... multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.

The writer is already referred to on at least 7 other wikipedia pages.

a couple of minor changes...[edit]

removed some border-line NPOV; 'very', etc.
added some links and changed others. eg. some readers may not know that the Royal Court is a theatre - removed unnecessary divider to display as such.
changed 'usually writes with' to 'has written with'. There is no numerical reference to suggest one writing partner is more prolific than any other and such a reference probably wouldn't be necessary. A statement of fact is more accurate than a opinion as to usually, mostly or often.
changed start of paragraphs to reference French as the subject of the article.
