Very reckless driving when in despair about retirement[edit]

This was a very grim tale that he told on a Channel 4 show called Under The Moon in 1997 (on the verge of tears) if anyone can find a clip etc;

When forced to retire from playing football through injury, he drove at night across London to his house with his foot hard on the accelerator, not even stopping for any red lights etc (so indifferent if his own death or of course those of others occurred) - but luckily there was somehow no collision with another vehicle (London traffic at night in the 1970's compared to now I suppose). Turned down OBE?[edit]

I heard that Rodney turned down an OBE, reportedly saying that Her Royal Highness can 'stick it where the sun don't shine'. Any corroboration for this?--OhNoPeedyPeebles (talk) 20:58, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article appears thorough enough but is completely dependent on the subject's autobiography and needs to be re-written with a greater deal of independent sources.

It is reasonably well written.

fails 2a per WP:GENREF, 2b per WP:SELFPUB - may be used as long as "the article is not based primarily on such sources" - discounting the autobiography, the sum total of references about his playing career is four, at least one of which (football-england.com) is of questionable reliability. Looking at the article's edit history it also appears that a certain Rod Marsh (talk · contribs) has been contributing material, which has then been referenced later (by another user) using the autobiography.

Per WP:GACR, "If the article is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria then it can be failed without being placed on hold." I feel that criteria 2b is a long way from being met and am therefore closing this review with immediate effect.

Clown Prince of Football[edit]

This was his nickname in many circles with an image of his partying lifestyle often hampering a player of a high calibre not able to perform his best.
