Edwards was in fact the second-best goalie in the Chicago Black Hawks system for several years. However, in thoes days teams only carried one goalkeeper. Whereas each of the other teams would employ their minor leaguer now and again in relief of the main man, Edwards was stuck behind Glenn Hall, who was in the middle of a streak of playing every minute for over 500 straight games. He did get to sit on the Chicago bench during playoff games when a standby was required by rule. Edwards didn't get a chance to play in the NHL until he was called up by Detroit after Roger Crozier's brief retirement. WHPratt (talk) 14:46, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
