The name Słubice[edit]

What does Słubice means? Does it have any connection with Frankfurt? Is it the name of a nearby village? Meursault2004 17:23, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is a modernized version of the name of Zliwitz, a Slavic (ie, Polish) settlement mentioned in Frankfurt's charter in 1253, the exact location of which is unclear. FWIW, Poland's Lubusz Voivodeship is named for Lebus, 20 km north of Frankfurt, the ancient bishopric.  ProhibitOnions  (T) 20:34, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've found a citation for this and added it to the main article. I should mention that there are a couple of other places in Poland named Słubice, so the name is not otherwise unknown.  ProhibitOnions  (T) 20:48, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you very much! Meursault2004 08:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've also added this info on the Indonesian Wikipedia article. Meursault2004 08:53, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of arm of the city[edit]

I notice that the coat of arm of Slubice on their official website is actually more similar to the coa of Frankfurt (Oder). Which coa is official? Meursault2004 13:32, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Frankfurt[edit]

This article should include the fact that before the border changes promulgated under the Potdam Accords in 1945, Słubice was the eastern part of Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany. (Cf. the entry on Gubin.)
