Article title[edit]

Although the current incarnation of the article has more on service as Dogwood, I selected George Washington Carver for the title because I suspect — but don't currently have the sources to consult — the ship was the first Liberty ship built entirely by African Americans, especially given the OWI photographs, having Lena Horne sponsor the ship at launching, etc. In the mean time I will be looking for sources that may shed some light on this. — Bellhalla (talk) 14:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
