Hello, I realize that this page does not currently contain content that supports the subject's presence for Wikipedia. I am currently researching SWsoft and am in the process of creating the page. I'm also hoping that others will lend a typing hand and add to the page as well.

When did SWSoft acquire PLESK?

The article states

OK, there's also this: http://forums.webhostdir.com/showthread.php?threadid=9669, which if read quickly seems to say "October 2004," but that's actually labelled as a "Join date", presumably something related to the site/poster/?, not the content. The date at the top of the posting is June 11th, 2003. So I'd say it's likely this post is where the confusion came in, and that June 2003 is the correct date.--NapoliRoma 03:21, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup needed

Some things I noticed that a subject matter expert should address:

• The "Uses" section seems to refer to the company's "software" as one thing, although the rest of the article indicates they have several. It should distinguish among the various products.

• There seems to be some POV creep here in favor of hypervisor vs. OS-based virtualization.

• The following sentence is oddly written in the negative:

Virtuozzo does not generate a virtual machine that resides on a host OS so that users can run multiple operating systems.

The point trying to be made appears to be that "generating a virtual machine that resides on a host OS" is a missing feature, because users should be able to "run multiple operating systems". In the attempt to carry this point of view forward, the article loses clarity. This should be rewritten to indicate that there are two design philosophies, and Virtuozzo picks one. It could then go on to say what the tradeoff of that choice is.

• One or more times in the article, there's a statement to the effect that Virtuozzo consolidates on a single physical server -- that's a description of both hypervisor and OS virtualization, so should be clarified. The section on "Operating system-level virtualization" makes this point, but doesn't really tie it back strongly to Virtuozzo. How deeply this gets covered in this article is somewhat questionable, anyway -- maybe it should just say that Virtuozzo implements OS-based virtualization and leave the comparison of that to hypervisors to the OS-level virtualization article.--NapoliRoma 18:49, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Merge to Parallels, Inc.

This article contents should be merged to Parallels, Inc., as SWsoft has adopted its division's name and the whole company is now known just as Parallels. References: Press release, swsoft.com (now redirects to parallels.com). --K001 (talk) 13:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I disagree. This page contains the history and information for events that occurred while SWsoft was still SWsoft. To place this information on the Parallels page would be inaccurate. Many companies are merged into other companies or close altogether (like Netscape for example), but it the merges are simply noted on their wikipedia pages. I agree. SWSoft doesn't exist anymore; Parallels is the new name. This page should be a redirect to the Parallels page, and mention of the previous name should be made in the article. RiSK (talk) 05:12, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

I still disagree. Computers that no longer exist, companies that closed and people that died still have Wikipages. Just because it no longer exists does not mean that it should not have a wikipage. EwokiWiki (talk) 23:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I am afraid I would have to agree with EwokiWiki on this. However, the connection with, or acquisition by, Parallels, Inc., should be made an integral part of the SWsoft entry. Daisykc (talk) 03:52, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

A lot of the information on this page is duplicated in the Parallels page, mainly product descriptions. While these may have started as swsoft products, they are now under active development by Parallels.
