Nomenclature[edit]

Following sourced facts get removed by an IP editor. Since I'm not willing to get dragged into an edit war, I bring the question to the talk page.--Termer (talk) 17:57, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

  • The term Samoyedic is sometimes considered derogatory because it's etymology has been interpreted as originating from Russian: Samo-yed: "self-eater". [1] Therefore sometimes the word Samodeic [2] is preferred by ethnologists.[1] Other interpretations of Samoyedic etymology suggest that the term originates from an expression same-edne, meaning the Land of the Sami peoples. "Samogiten"[edit]

Is it true that they were sometimes called "Samogiten"? http://api.ning.com/files/mhrng7eeJg1bSKAGfv5vbugj*MSKzvvqD9N74dlo2SIb6Ua6ceIN47nItHfsyLYRBRSo5m82p8JCJm3aLVEqXTmiJ9KbzQct/file.jpg --YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 22:02, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
