Nomination to delete Sargon Dadesho article

I see this article was nominated for deletion before. I have nominated it again for immediate deletion. Dadesho is neither a politician nor a leader. He is of no importance what-so-ever and has done nothing significant in any way that would warrant an article. The mere fact that he has a TV program, runs bingo games and holds dance parties in Ceres, California, do not meet the criteria of notability. Zayya 09:55, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Article needs major revision

I believe this article suffers from fundamental flaws that not only subtract from its credibility as a Wikipedia entry but jeopardize its integrity as a source of information.

First of all, the language mechanics of the article are weak if at all present. The initial sentence of the article should paraphrase Dadesho's most significant contributions (or in other words, noteworthy information that justifies his having a Wikipedia article) in moderate detail yet only entails that he heads "various Assyrian organizations" and the status of his marriage. Admittedly not very involved, my research yields that not every man who heads 'various organizations' and coincidentally is also married has his own Wikipedia article, and it is not my considered opinion that it should be so.

The rest of the article is horridly organized; paragraphs strung together non sequitor, random bits of unorganized information thrown in, even a chronological organization is hard to find. Lastly but definitely not in the least, the grammar and simple sentence structure found in the article is barely logical, let alone follows grammatical conventions: incorrect punctuation, run on sentences, verb/noun agreement issues, just to name a few. The fifth paragraph is of particular error; the sentences are so poorly constructed (with endless prepositional chains) and the ideas represented so ill-gathered that the points, if any, of the information is totally lost (the only clear statements being the first and the last, which are also biased).

More significantly, however, I find this article to be very biased. The perspective of the author(s) is anything but objective, and in many instances only serves to glorify Dadesho rather than represent him and information surrounding him in a neutral fashion. For example, stating that he has "skilfully utilized the media for his political aims as president..." and continuing to go into detail about the financial nature of his endeavors; the following paragraph blatantly glorifying Dadesho for incurring [unverified] financial losses just to keep his 'public charity' afloat. Verification of these figures aside, I hardly see their relevance to an article on a person, at least in that detail: perhaps such figures would be better suited on an article regarding an organization itself rather than its leader. To further distort this article's objectivity, there are several instances of weasel-word phrases used to provide subjective comment (but may be less obvious due to their passive voicing); such as "His critics allege", or "Dadesho remains the most vocal devotee of the “Assyrian-only” camp", or "a position... uncompromisingly held", et al.

Lastly, I find it worthy to note that most of the information on this page (virtually all the pertinent biographical information) comes from one source (http://www.zindamagazine.com/html/archives/2005/5.21.05/index_sat.php) making the article more of a paraphrase rather than a useful or efficient conglomerate of information.

The reason I do not take it upon myself to edit this article personally is that I do not believe it should exist in the first place. I don't believe Dadesho to be influential enough or his works significant enough to warrant his own article. Although, having read the recently deliberated deletion discussion, I digress.

Therefore I urge strongly that this article be edited to meet both Wikipedia and credible information source standards (or better yet, rewritten entirely with accurate, relative, and comprehensive information), especially for the sake of WikiProject Assyria; so that such a controversial member among the Assyrian community (of which I am a member) is not only accurately represented in terms of fact but professionally represented in terms of the composition of the article. The Assyrian community has been represented as amateur and otherwise less worthy of recognition (not always unjustifiably so) and if this reputation will ever reverse itself it is imperative that the Assyrian people and their figures be accurately and professionally represented on a medium so popular and readily available as Wikipedia. The article standard needs a lot of improvement

In order for this article to be regarded as a verifiable source of information, a major revamp is highly recommended. The article does not contain significant detail about Dadesho's early life or family history, as well as his life before he came to the United States. It may be difficult to obtain this information and to be able to reference it accordingly, and in this case, the best thing to look for is a personal interview. Referencing from one source of information, which in itself might not be regarded as an impartial source, is not recommended at all.

The sentence structure and quality of English needs major improvement. The information doesn't seem to flow, both chronologically and logically, and it may help to divide the article into sections. This again might not be possible to do or will be very hard because Dadesho's contributions to Assyrian society are either limited or not widely acknowledged in reputable sources. If sections are not possible, then the author or editors should consider chronological paragraphing.

The main failure of the article is its inability to present information in an unbiased fashion. There is a difference between being factually correct and providing personal opinion. I would suggest a complete restructure of the prose so as not to reflect personal feelings about this controversial personality. Much like the author of the comment directly above, I also feel that the Assyrian community has been shown to be "amateurish" with regards to presenting factual information on Wikipedia, and this is something that really needs to be addressed. Facts must always be presented professionally and backed up by reputable sources (e.g. peer-reviewed journals and personal interviews). Gb105 (talk) 02:19, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

I just removed a paragraph discussing the subject's educational credentials and making a claim of wrongdoing by the subject. The references provided for this allegation did not meet the requirements for such allegations as described in the Wikipedia policy for biographies here: Wikipedia:BLP. Sargon Dadesho

Sargon Dadesho is the most influential person in our Assyrian Nation. He is the President of the Assyrian National Congress. This article about him is full of errors and half-truths. First, he remains unmarried, dedicating his entire life to the struggle of his nation. Second , he has never been a member or supporter of the Assyrian Universal Alliance. He is the founder of the first Assyrian political party in history (Bet-Nahrain Democratic Party). Third, the regime of Saddam Hussein tried to smear the name of this hero before the assassination attempt. Saddam's agents tried to question his educational credentials in order to smear his name. It is a fact that Dr. Dadesho is the recipient of a Ph.D. degree in Physiological sciences, minor in Chemistry, fro the University of California at Davis and Pacific Western University. The editors of Wikipedia should remove these errors from the article.
